Well, here you are… in the thick of it.
Your teenager’s mood is foul, and you don’t know why. You’ve heard, “Oh, wait until the teenage years,” but you didn’t realize it would be this hard. You think that there’s surely a way to help, but nothing seems to break them out of their funk.
It’s not easy to see your child unmotivated, sad, anxious, and irritated.
And heaven forbid that you ask them to complete even the simplest of tasks, in response to which they groan like you’re telling them to build a house from the ground up.
But the worst is when they blame you for it all.
If you’re giving your teen everything they could ever want, what do they have to be so sad about?
“Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems.”
That’s what they say, anyway…
Teens are dealing with a lot. Puberty not only changes their bodies but also makes emotions more intense. Their emotions can quickly change from day to day when dealing with the pressures of school, friends, and parents. Teens are constantly comparing themselves to others, which influences their self-esteem. They are struggling with exerting their independence while also depending on their parents. Being a teen is hard!
Ra Wellness helps teens just like yours.
Whether it’s anxiety, depression, or just a lost path, we’re here to help. We’ll listen to your teen and help them build the step-by-step skills they’ll need to create gradual wins and accomplish meaningful goals.
Remember when you were a teenager? The last thing you wanted to do was talk about your personal life with your parents. It’s very typical for teens not to share their struggles with mom and dad. That’s where we come in.
Give your teen an outlet to discuss what makes them stressed out, whether it’s friends, school, sports, or activities. The key to engaging teens in therapy is making a connection and establishing trust. Once that connection is made, your teen will open up, sharing personal details about their difficulties. Together, your teen and therapist will develop a plan to tackle their stressors and work toward balance and happiness.
Your teen will leave with confidence and genuine joy in life.
Providing a safe space for teens is one of the main priorities at Ra Wellness.
Therapy is most effective when a trusting relationship exists between the therapist and the teen. Privacy is especially important in securing and maintaining that trust. It is often necessary for teens to develop a “zone of privacy” with their therapist to feel free to discuss personal matters with greater freedom. This is particularly true for teens who are naturally developing a greater sense of independence and autonomy.
Our policy is to provide you with general information about their treatment status. We will not share what your teen discussed without your teen’s consent unless it is necessary to protect your teen or another person. We will absolutely tell you if we feel your child is in danger in any way.
With that being said, we welcome parents’ input about how their teen is functioning. Parents are encouraged to share any concerns.
Also, with permission from your teen, we can bring parents into a therapy session to discuss concerns or reinforce therapy techniques.
